Northcot Brick has spent many years developing a range of traditional bricks, harnessing a coal-fired kiln process to produce delicate and subtle shades and effects across a range of sand-faced, semi-smooth and rustic textures. Weathering and 'antique' techniques are also available, along with the ability to create bespoke blends and special shapes to perfectly match existing brickwork on renovations and extensions to sensitive heritage and conservation projects.

A unique blend of two machine-made and one handmade brick types were blended together to create this stunning match for Binswood Hall in Warwickshire. Northcot supplied over 200,000 bespoke Binswood Hall blend facing bricks and 22,000 special-shaped bricks to match the existing architecture.

An extension and complete refurbishment of a Grade II listed house in the North Oxford Victorian Suburb Conservation Area. To help the client return the property to its former splendour Northcot Brick provided an excellent match using a bespoke blend of two different handmade bricks. With 70 percent Northcot Plumstead Antique and 30 percent Northcot Plumstead Orange, this subtle combination is now called the Northcot Norham Garden blend. Created using age-old 'benchmould' handmaking techniques, these bricks have a natural quality that makes them almost indistinguishable from the originals.

Marston’s brewery in Burton-on-Trent, is the spiritual home of British beer. The Victorian brewhouse boasts an impressive grade II listed industrial chimney, which is a well-known local landmark. Restoration of the chimney required 9 metres of new brickwork, specially matched to the original Victorian structure. For this Northcot created Brickfield Antique, a bespoke blend of handmade brick with subtle red tones, light texture and a weather worn appearance that matches the original brickwork. This popular brick has now become part of our standard range.

This Eighteenth century ‘Ice House’ can be found at Croome, a 750 acre National Trust estate famous for its stately home and extensive grounds, which were Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown’s first major landscape design.  In 2007, The National Trust set about restoring the Ice House to its original splendour. Northcot Brick was approached to develop a new brick type, Packwood Rural, with which to rebuild the original dome and porch to exactly match the original.

Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings is one of the most important buildings of the industrial revolution, and the world’s first cast-iron framed building. Following years of decline, the site was bought in 2005 by Historic England, who partnered with Shropshire Council and Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings to secure a £20.7 million grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2017 for the restoration of the Grade I listed Main Mill and the Grade II listed Kiln. Northcot made 90,000 bespoke oversized bricks of two sizes (75 & 93mm) for three different blends, which were hand thrown, and kiln fired using traditional methods and weathered to match both colour and texture of the originals.
