Northcot‘s unique blend of reclaimed looking bricks has become a distinctive interior design feature of the international sandwich chain Pret A Manger.
The striking interior brickwork finish, now a trademark feature of the high-street chain, is created from a bespoke blend of various Cherwell and traditional range products whose warm tones and varied textures add character, individuality and urban chic to the interior environment. The Cotswold based manufacturer now manufactures approximately 100,000 bricks a year for Pret A Manger, which are then cut into brick slips by independent builders’ merchant John A Stephens.
“Although we originally tried to source genuine second hand reclaim bricks, we found that the best way to guarantee the consistency of quality, texture and colour across every batch was to find a manufacturer, who could make new bricks with all the natural characteristics, folds and variations of second hand reclaims,” said Jeremy Daniel, Sales Director at John A Stephens.
“Northcot’s traditionally made reclaim bricks are not only tumbled to give a genuinely authentic look, but they are also dual-faced, allowing us to offer maximum value.“
Now an integral part of the chain’s interior design, the appearance of natural exposed brickwork helps to create the cosy atmosphere and the comfortable relaxed environment, which have become part of the chain’s popular appeal.
Pret A Manger’s Group Head of Design, Matthew Wilson, said: “At Pret, the quality of materials in our shops is very important to us. When it comes to the interior design, we invest a lot of effort into sourcing top quality products and materials, which support our brand values and enhance our customers’ experience.”
